But yeah, joining at 15 bussing tables and moving on to being a waitress and moving on to
being a senior waitress and a host was just fantastic. Moved on to the management career
ladder, I went into assistant management and by the time I was 19 I was a deputy which was
just fantastic, I thought I could be the youngest manager in Hut.
I moved onto Restaurant General Manager, ran three restaurants, the last of which I ran was
a new store opening, but that gave me a real opportunity to move into Area Management. So
I was very fortunate that I go onto development centre for Area Management which allowed
me to then really start to looking at my skills, looking at my gaps, looking at where I
needed to get some feedback and I moved into Area Management fairly quickly, looked after
about six restaurants in the north of Scotland. That didn't last too long, I was on sixth
then I moved up to thirteen, then it was nineteen and then I moved to different areas and
I did that for about three years and then went into the Ops Manager role. Which was just,
it's in between being an Area Manager and a Regional Director of Operations.
So, within about one year of being an Ops Manager, I got promoted up to the Regional Director
of Operations and I now look after a very lovely district, right the way from Liverpool
across to Newcastle, all the way up to Inverness and I've got 11 great Area Managers that
work for me in over 3000 teams so yeah, it is a pretty big job and great geography.
