LOUISA WOOD
DELIVERY GENERAL MANAGER
I've had a fantastic career start at Pizza Hut. I Started off after graduating from
university. I had completed a food degree and decided to stay in Sheffield. And
there was a job, a new Pizza Hut was opening in the town centre and I managed to get
a job doing a management fast track scheme, so it was quite hard to learn but it was
lovely because we trained as a team member first, so learnt all of the hospitality
aspect. Then we worked back of house learning the production side of it and then I
was then trained in terms of a Support Manager and learning those management skills
because I hadn't had prior management knowledge.
Pizza Hut's really flexible. I did have an opportunity where I was able to go abroad
and go travelling and I was able to pick up the job when I came back and luckily it
brought great opportunities because I was able to then run and hold the store.
We have different stories to tell. We have a lot of students obviously within our
area and we get some very quirky requests on a lot of the web orders that we have, on
the receipts we normally have requests for drawing a unicorn which we obviously
oblige. We have to sing the YMCA, we have to sing Happy Birthday at the door.
So at Pizza Hut I'm most proud of really the team that I've built up in Crookes in
the delivery store. The team are absolutely fantastic, they've learnt new skills and
a lot of them have progressed. It's really inspiring to see somebody come in as a
Team Member and then to, obviously, to develop their skills whether it to be a
Supervisor or to go up into support management and then progress even further again,
so it's really inspiring.
You can get great results but the most important aspect is being proud of the people
that you work with and enjoying the people that you work with, and waking up on a day
that you know that you are excited to go to work and to make customers proud. It's
really important to know that you've done the best, given them the best deal, served
them the quickest, and make their day go that, just that little bit better.
